Tucked away on the southern side of Troy, Paul C. Scott Plumbing has proudly called the city home since 2015. What began as a small, home-based business in 1988 has grown into a thriving company, led by a third-generation plumber. Today, the company employs over 20 people and continues to build on a strong family legacy.
During a recent tour of their impressive facility, Mayor Ethan Baker and Troy Chamber President & CEO- Tara Tomcsik-Husak met with Gil Cotter (Vice President – Field Operations Manager), Niall Beere (Sales and Operations Manager), Michelle Wood (Administrative Assistant), Brian Scott (Vice President) and Mark Schulte (General Manager). From endless rows of equipment to a massive hydro jet machine used for cleaning drain lines, the tour showcased the company’s expertise and capabilities.
As technology advances, so does the plumbing industry. In a corner of their expansive kitchen and training room, a custom-built water filtration system is on display; A clear reflection of the company’s evolving services. “As information evolves, more solutions come to be,” Brian Scott explained.
“The plumbing industry is very different than most people realize,” said Brian Scott, Vice President of Operations.
With water filtration becoming a growing focus, the team emphasized the importance of understanding what’s in your water. Water quality affects not only drinking water, but minerals or toxins can also be absorbed through your skin. They share that safe and clean water is more vital than ever.
But beyond the tools and tech, it’s the people who make the biggest impression. The team at Paul C. Scott Plumbing proudly shares a family-oriented culture built on trust, experience, and service. “We’re here to help people during difficult times and make the experience as painless as possible,” Scott shared. “It’s about taking care of our customers.”

Whether it’s the friendly welcome at the front desk or the skilled Master Plumbers throughout the building, the passion for the business is obvious. One standout moment during the tour was a moment at a b
ulletin board, assembled by Michelle, showcasing glowing 5-star reviews for every employee.
“I love that you showcase your reviews for all to read, you can feel the sense of pride you all have for the quality of work you are providing,” stated Tomcsik-Husak
The team’s commitment to community is just as strong as their commitment to quality and fair craftsmanship. They shared a story of an elderly woman who had received an unfair quote from a national company for a minor repair. The Paul C. Scott team quickly realized the job didn’t warrant the price and replaced the part with one they had on hand… No strings attached. It’s this service-first, community-focused approach that sets them apart.
Still, challenges remain. With a growing demand for plumbing services, the skilled trades are facing a talent shortage.
“Kids aren’t counseled that there’s an alternative to a degree,” said Schulte. Despite more students entering trade schools, it’s not enough to meet the needs of a growing population or replace retiring tradespeople.
“Supporting the growth of trades, is incredibly important. A skilled workforce only enhances the success of a community, not to mention these roles are highly in demand,” stated Mayor Baker.
The team remains optimistic. From tackling aging infrastructure to becoming experts on evolving technologies like water filtration, Paul C. Scott Plumbing is ready to meet the challenges ahead. With
deep roots in the community, a strong sense of purpose, and a commitment to quality service, the company is excited for what the future holds.
