Starting a business can be the most rewarding part of someone’s career. Seeing an individual become an entrepreneur and take their dream and turn it into reality has always inspired me. Today, Mayor Baker and I had the chance to meet one of those people – Pradip Sengupta, President and CEO of IPS Technology Services.
IPS Technology Services offers many services in several tech sectors, including IT staffing, CIO advisory, digital marketing, systems development, and both healthcare and engineering IT. IPS also offers IT outsourcing services to those who need operation support for older systems that they still rely on. IPS prides itself on understanding that each client is different and never tries the “one size fits all” approach.
After touring the IPS office, Mayor Baker and I sat down with Pradip, to learn of his backstory and how he took IPS Technology Services from an idea to a reality.
“I always wanted to own my own company,” Pradip said. “It took me a long time to get to where I am today. I wish I had done it when I was younger.”
Pradip started with consulting in 2009 and volunteered his time to help small companies leverage what they had in IT software. He admits that his move from being head of IT in corporate America to consulting in 2009 could have been better timed, but he does not regret his decision. His dedication to helping smaller companies and charitable organizations improve their IT processes did not go unnoticed. He networked, built trust in the community and with those he worked with. He soon had a large network of business professionals who trusted him and his abilities.
“You’re proof of how networking is directly correlated with growth. It’s fantastic to see,” said Mayor Baker.
As his work continued to grow and he hired more employees, there was a need for a physical location. In 2011, Pradip opened IPS at its current brick-and-mortar location on Big Beaver.
“We don’t just want to send a bill to our clients. We care,” said Pradip. “We want to be a model company and motivate other companies to provide better solutions to their clients.”
